Nguyen Truong Sinh (Vietnam)
With the nickname Happy Buddha, it goes without saying that Sinh is one of our most jovial leaders. Born in Chau Doc and now based in Saigon, Sinh's knowledge of Vietnam and the surrounding countries is really fantastic.
Qualifications:
Having worked as a leader for almost 10 years, he's one of our longest-serving leaders in Asia too.
Achievements:
He enjoys adding extra touches to the trips he leads - perhaps a cooking class or a visit to a local family's house - which give his clients a real insight into local life. Sinh's infectious personality, laid back attitude, sense of humour and professionalism appeal to travellers from all walks of life.
Le Truong Long (Vietnam)
Long was born in the north of Vietnam in Thai Binh province, but moved to Saigon when he was 15 years old. He now lives in Saigon (renting house in Tan Binh), but his family now live in Ba Ria, close to the seaside town of Vung Tau. He is single, young, patient, gentle, always has a happy and smiling face, is friendly and easy-going, and has excellent English language skills. His previous vocation in restauration has resulted in a deep knowledge of local food - Long knows all the best places to eat the Vietnamese cuisine and he is also a good cook - specialising in spring rolls! He has also travelled outside his own country and visited Switzerland back in 2002. Another of his keen hobbies/interests is playing and watching football (soccer).
Qualifications:
Long started working in the hospitality industry as a waiter in a restaurant, but he decided to become a tour leader and began his new career in 2003 by looking after Peregrine groups.
Ho Tri Thanh (Vietnam)
Thanh is a long serving Peregrine leader, having started with us in 1995. His personal story is reflective of the recent tumultuous history of Vietnam. His father was imprisoned in a concentration camp after the finish of the American war in 1975, and in the late 80s Thanh was recruited into the army, being posted in Cambodia to help oust the Khmer Rouge.
Qualifications:
His amazing background means Thanh always provides a fascinating insight into the varied history of this incredible country. His passion for cooking and Vietnamese food also means a trip with Thanh is always a culinary delight.
Achievements:
His first tour of Angkor Wat was taken in the pitch black of night, being the scout for his platoon searching for the rebels amongst the ancient ruins. He was brandishing a torch and rifle, instead of the usual microphone that he is now accustomed to in his current role.
Seng Sothy (Cambodia)
Hailed from Phnom Penh, Sothy takes travellers to the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Prison Museum and explains the tragic saga of the Khmer Rouge era, but also combines this with the true story of his own life experience, where he lost both his parents (who were school teachers) and was lucky to escape with his own life. He has lived a riveting and eventful life, some of which was tragic and heart wrenching past. He visited USA late last year and travelled around to get a taste of the Western experience first hand! His favourite travel experience is seeing the sunset at Angkor Wat.
Qualifications:
In 1996, he started tour leading/guiding and in 1997, started leading tours for Peregrine. Seng also works for the Ministry of Tourism as a qualified guide.
